Managing Locations in TARGPatrol
In TARGPatrol, locations represent the physical areas where tasks, points, and inspections take place. You can create, edit, or delete locations to keep your workspace organized and up to date. Locations can be enhanced with Google Maps integration for GPS accuracy or graphic plans for visual representation, making it easier to see where points are placed. You can also group related points, assign users to specific locations, and link tasks directly to them for streamlined operations. Effective location management ensures accurate tracking, better scheduling, and improved reporting across your organization.

Creating a Location

Locations are the main entity in TARGPatrol. Any task, employee, point, or incident is created within locations. By default, there is one location in the organization after its creation.
To create a new location in TARGPatrol, follow these steps:

1. Go to https://app.targpatrol.com and log in with your account. For more details on registration and authorization, refer to the previous lesson.

2. Navigate to the Locations menu.
3. Click the Add Location button.
4. Fill in the required information, including the location name and details. You can either enter the address in the search field to find it automatically or pinpoint it directly on the map. The location address is essential if you plan to use GPS checkpoints.

5. Once your location is set up, you can upload a graphical plan to easily place points visually. Use the Graphic Plan menu to add one or more plans, or switch to the map view to position GPS points with precision.

Deleting and Editing Locations

To edit a location, click the pencil icon and change the necessary information. Save the changes.
To delete a location, click the trash can icon.
If you want to delete locations in bulk (or assign tags), select multiple locations and use bulk actions.

  • Carefully Plan the Structure of Locations: Before creating locations, make sure you have a clear plan and understanding of how they will be used and organized in your system.

  • Upload High-Quality Graphical Plans: Ensure that the uploaded graphical plans are clear and of high quality. This will help accurately place points and improve overall navigation.

  • Regularly Update Location Information: Regularly check and update the information of your locations to ensure it is always current. This is especially important for large and dynamic organizations.

  • Use Bulk Actions for Location Management: If you need to make changes to multiple locations at once, use the bulk actions feature to save time and effort.
