Task Creation

In this guide, we will explain how to create tasks in TARGPatrol.

Creating in the Web

To create a task, follow these steps:
  1. Navigate to the "Schedule" tab.

  2. Click on the desired schedule cell to open the task creation window.

  3. Enter necessary information about the task, such as title, description, priority, etc.

  4. To add steps to the task, click on the "Open Full Form" button or the "Add Task" button in the bottom right corner.

  5. In the full task creation window, you can: - Add multiple steps with detailed instructions. - Include checkpoints for each step. - Assign actions to steps (or create checklists).

  6. Save the task by clicking on the "Save" button.

TARGPatrol simplifies task setup with the Favorite Tasks feature. You can create task templates with predefined details such as location, steps, actions, priority, and time slots, and save them as favorites. When assigning new tasks, simply select a favorite task to instantly apply all of its settings—no need to manually configure everything again. This not only speeds up task creation but also helps maintain consistency across recurring tasks or routine operations.

Repeat & Task Series

Turn a single task into a recurring series by checking Repeat. Pick the days (Mon–Sun), then set Repeat from and Repeat until. The calendar previews every upcoming occurrence, and the summary (e.g., “Task will be repeated 12 times. See all days”) shows how many tasks will be created.
All occurrences inherit the same time window, assignee, location, steps & actions, tags, and priority. In the Schedule, a series icon marks repeating tasks.
You can manage a series flexibly:
  • Edit/Delete: Choose Only this task to change a single date, or All to update the entire series.

  • Reschedule: Drag or edit one occurrence without affecting the rest.

  • Publish/Unpublish: Apply to a single occurrence or a selected date range.

Use Repeat to quickly set patterns like Mon/Wed/Fri until 08/31/2025—perfect for patrols, inspections, or any routine work.
Repeat settings

Task execution settings

Strict Order of Steps

When this setting is enabled, employees must complete each step exactly in the sequence you define. The app guides them step-by-step and blocks any attempt to jump ahead, repeat a step prematurely, or scan the wrong point (QR, NFC, GPS, or Virtual). If someone tries to go out of order, the action is prevented and the event can be recorded for review. This is especially useful for safety-critical or compliance workflows—think patrol routes, sanitation checklists, equipment start-up/shut-down, or audit trails. By enforcing the prescribed path, you reduce mistakes, ensure required evidence (photos, readings, signatures) is captured at the right moment, and keep your data consistent for reporting. You can enable strict order per task and optionally combine it with time rules to make sure work happens in the right order and at the right time.

Strict start–end

Strict start–end sets a precise execution window: the task should be started just before the scheduled start time (startAt)—within the allowed pre-start window (e.g., up to 1 hour early)—and after before the scheduled end time. The mobile app does not block early starts or late finishes; instead, the system flags them as warnings (e.g., Late start, Late end) in the web app so managers can review SLA compliance without interrupting work.

Block photo gallery

When enabled, users cannot attach images from their device gallery during task execution. Only freshly captured photos from the camera are allowed—ensuring authenticity and up-to-date visual evidence.

Tips for Task Creation

  • Clarity and Detail: Ensure each task has a clear title and detailed description so employees understand what is required of them.

  • Priorities and Deadlines: Set appropriate priorities and deadlines for each task to ensure they are completed on time.

  • Recurring Tasks: Use recurring tasks for regular activities and important events.

  • Timely Scheduling: When assigning tasks to employees, do so in advance so they can review their schedules accordingly.

By following these recommendations, you can effectively create and manage tasks in TARGPatrol, ensuring high productivity and clear execution of all operations.
